The bartenders at the pool get a little terse during the busy period but nothing that really bothered us. We don't sleep before then, so it doesn't bother us. The downside is that things do stay noisy until ~11pm-midnight. Lastly, we also caught a Queen cover band on Tuesday, which was very good.īased on our experience at Paradisus and some of the reviews we read, we were worried that the activities would be dead, but we actually had a great time. We also went to the nightclub on Monday night and it was surprisingly lively. At night, they have a themed party every day - we went to a neon party on Sunday, "traditional" Mexican party on Monday, and an art party on Tuesday. During the day, there are a lot of activities planned, from dance classes to volleyball to live music (DJ and Sax player!). We really wanted to go to a resort that had a lot of things going on, and IMO, this is where Breathless did a really good job. If you tip the bartender well, they'll make you good stuff. It's unlimited alcohol - they'll serve you shit stuff unless you specify otherwise. We didn't get to try the steakhouse (the tapas place turns into a steakhouse at night), but all the reviews we read about it online were pretty bad.ĭon't really have much to say either way about the bars.
The tapas restaurant were okay - ceviche on one day was good but tasted fishy the next.
The buffet is solid but nothing to write home about. It's definitely worth it to opt for the ala carte restaurants for dinner - the Italian, French, and Asian restaurants were good. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, but it's not like you'll find the best food ever, but we wouldn't be mad with what we were served if we found it in a random restaurant down the street. Look, this rating is for an all-inclusive's food. Overall, similar to the rooms, the property is generally well-maintained and clean, but you can find signs of wear and tear if you look. They've painted over it but you can definitely still see it there. For example, the Mexican restaurant's ceiling looked like it had water issues in the past. If you look for problems, you can definitely find them. The gym is solid and has everything you'd need for a workout, including a free-standing bench press. The central area of the resort has nice seating and fire pits at night that give the property a lively vibe. There's also a lot of seating across beach chairs, Bali beds, and other misc. Both pools are nice, clean, and feature swim-up bars. The resort is laid out into two sections - a large central pool where most people hang out during the day, as well as a side pool with a live DJ. It's large and my partner and I enjoyed being able to shower together without having to take turns with the water. The room has a modern design, and the highlight was the shower - nice finishes with two rain shower heads + a handheld head. This didn't bother us, but may be an issue for you. For example, our mirrors were showing desilvering (black spots around the edge). The room was clean and comfortable, but as I'll mention later, the property definitely has some rough edges showing. I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest xhale room they offered.
